FAUX PRODUCT REVIEW 28: MAKE UP FOR EVER HIGH DEFINITION PRESSED POWDER

I know I left you confused and angry. If you can’t use the ghost powder I told you not to buy (Read: Faux Product Review 27: NYX Cosmetics HD Finishing Powder), what’s the alternative? It’s Make Up For Ever’s High Definition Pressed Powder.

Created specifically for HD technology, this talc-free professional touch-up powder is perfect for use throughout the day to reduce shine and slightly mattify skin. It adds a soft-focus, naturally radiant effect to blur imperfections, such as fine lines and pores, while remaining completely invisible to even the most magnified HD lens.

When I purchased Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder by NARS it was because they were out of this product. It works well; however, I do carry it with me in the event I have to touch up my semi-bare face during the day. It has a mirror but doesn’t come with one of those pads, sponges or whatever it’s called. As a results, I have to tote my kabuki brush around. I’m fine with that. For more, visit Sephora.

FAUX PRODUCT REVIEW 27: NYX COSMETICS HD FINISHING POWDER

I’ve used NYX more than a few tines. We aren’t best friends but I say hello when I see her in the streets. Any who, I purchased this the same time I bought the Butter Lipstick which means I’ve spent a lot of time with this product. Enough for a thorough review.

A lightweight, translucent finishing powder that helps soften the appearance of fine lines and pores. NYX Cosmetics HD Finishing Powder is a silky pressed powder with a fresh, matte finish.

So, don’t buy this.

Thing is, the powder isn’t all that translucent. You guys, I looked like I was being prepped for burial. Fresh off the mortician’s table. I looked like a mime. Also, I didn’t stay matte which is why I kind of ditched makeup this summer (Read: No Makeup Movement).

You’ve been warned.

FAUX PRODUCT REVIEW 25: NYX BUTTER LIPSTICK

While at Ulta minding my own business, I decided to pass by the NYX section to inquire about nude lip colors similar to Bite’s Marizipan (but cheaper, obviously).

NYX Butter Lipstick’s unique texture seems to melt onto the lips, giving full, yet lightweight coverage with a luxurious satin finish.

I picked two lip colors but the Ulta consultant selected Vacation Spot (pictured above). As described, this product feels super light. Like a feather. Like is this even on? Like can the wind blow this off? Also, the shade is a bit too dark which means I should’ve bought the one the Ulta consultant didn’t select. On the bright side, it’s only $5.99 and I’ve been wearing it everyday so I think it’s a sufficient purchase.

Well wasn’t that short and sweet?

MOM’S TRENDY LIPS

It appears that berry and vamp lips have staying power. To my mom’s credit, she’s been a fan of dark lips forever. Here’s to my mom, you little trendsetter. Below, are recommendations for your fall lip collection. Side note: I actually have that NYX Lip Cream.

Tip: Line your lips and fill in with lip pencil before applying lipstick.  Lip pencils prevent your lipstick from bleeding, defines lips and primes for lip color. You’re welcome.
