FAUX PRODUCT REVIEW 21: ALL DAY LUMINOUS WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION

I knew I was low on foundation but because I’m a total badass and like to live my life on the edge, I was like whatever. I’ll make a trip to Sephora for another Mat Velvet when necessary. And lucky me, I had just enough to apply for the day and went to Sephora after work.

Upon arrival, there seemed to be fog covering the floor of the store with everyone moving in slow motion. I saw my favorite beauty consultant who was too busy to talk to me but it was OK. So, I arrive at the Make Up For Ever section and search for my number (color). Don’t see it. I get another consultant (who has rainbow hair) to check the drawer, right below the display and it’s sold out. SOLD OUT!

“Do you want us to order it for you?” NO, THIS IS A DIRE SITUATION, I AM OUT OF FOUNDATION! But I don’t panic, actually I am panicking but am able to ask for an alternative. Rainbow-head beauty consultant recommended some brands I wasn’t too fond of but eventually suggested NARS’s All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.

Achieve full-coverage, lightweight foundation that leaves a natural finish. Highly pigmented and perfectly balanced, this breakthrough, full-coverage formula builds and blends effortlessly. Its Even Tone Technology instantly neutralizes redness and dullness, while it works to reduce discoloration for more even, uniform skin. Perfect for all skin types, it features Weightless Long-wear Technology, an exclusive blend from NARS with flexible polymers and treated pigments that move with the skin while providing 16 hours of staying power.

I have tried and like NARS products (Read: Faux Product Review 10: Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder) but errr, it’s a little more than I want to pay for foundation. For 48 bucks, I expect it to apply itself. So what do I do? I begrudgingly buy the foundation with the intent of hating it and returning it; although, I did like the name of the color: New Orleans.

While applying, I made faces. This is too light. “Husband, is this too light?” “Yeah, it’s too light.” Although I knew that it would darken since makeup oxidizes shortly after its applied to the skin. Then, I started to like it. The foundation does provide full coverage which results in a smooth, even and matte finish. I dare say this color blends better than the one I had in Matt Velvet. For All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (the same price as a down payment on a Kia), shop Sephora

I should rename this post expensive a** makeup review…

I use Rimmel London. Lasting finish, it’s inexpensive and has great coverage…

    • I need to find something less expensive but it’s tough with my skin color and super oily skin.

  3. Maybe I need to give this one another shot. I didn’t love it- but maybe it was the products I used with it. Thanks for the review!
