THE HEART SPEAKS IN WHISPERS

There are some artists that I am such a fan of, that I trust so much that I preorder their albums. And, there’s a formula to this: GREAT PAST MUSIC + AWESOME HAIR AND OR FASHION + BOMB NEW MUSIC = TAKE MY MONEY, I KNOW I WON’T REGRET IT.

Thursday, right before midnight Apple sent me an email like “Hey girlfriend check your music, Corinne Bailey Rae’s new album is there. Because I work for a living I whispered to myself “awesome,” rolled over and went to sleep.

Usually, I listen to new music like 133 times in less than 24 hours. However, I’ve only listened to this album in its entirety twice: (1) While on the way to New Orleans when around track 10, Husband couldn’t take anymore and made me turn it off and (2) While at work yesterday.

Since first released, “Been to the Moon” has been my favorite single and is my favorite song from the album. The album is more pop than I expected. With this album, I really love the first tracks and as the album progresses, the less I like the songs. Seriously. But you know what? There was a song I absolutely hated on Esperanza’s latest album that is kind of my favorite now. I’m not sure if this will be the case because I dislike almost half of the album but miracles happen everyday, right?

As usual, I bought the deluxe and downloaded it via iTunes. So, am I the only one listening to this? I think I am the only one among my friends, they have no class. Also, “The Heart Speaks in Whispers?” I don’t know what that means… I mean, I don’t think my heart speaks in whispers. My heart probably makes more of a screeching sound due to my Heart Murmur and what not. Any way…

      • I have not listened to the entire album yet, but it is definitely an upgrade from The Sea which was so dark to me. I like the more pop/upbeat sound from her, or at least some variety.

      • Interestingly, I like that one more and I don’t know why. I’m not sad or anything. I listen to “I’d Do It All Again” at least 3xs a week…

      • Different strokes I guess.. I like it but it has a definite sad overtone. The Darkest Lily is still the jam tho

      • Yeah, I’m not going to delete the album or anything. It will probably grow on me. Lol
