I’m attempting a new product review series entitled “Faux Product Reviews.” Some products are tough to review but I still want you to know about them. Most importantly, I don’t want to be blamed for a crap product.
black|Up is new to Sephora and quite controversial due to rumors surrounding its ownership. From what I’ve gathered, the company was stolen from its founder; however, I intend on doing a bit more research. I’m not totally sold on what I’ve read. Now, to the product description:
The Perfect Mattifying Primer leaves skin with an even matte finish and it helps to reduce the appearance of pores while it controls excess sebum. Formulated to minimize and smooth the look of pores, it leaves a long-lasting matte finish on even the oiliest of skin types. It leaves skin feeling velvety-soft and smooth for superior makeup hold that lasts all day.
This product is also free of parabens, not that you care. As instructed, I used one pump. Application is super smooth as if putting on moisturizer. Skin mattes when applying but oil still breaks through later in the day. I don’t think this product is a failure, I’m just super oily; especially, with warmer weather. Almost daily, I apply a mattifying moisturizer + mattifying finishing spray + pressed powder and a mattifying primer? That’s enough to suck the oil out of me and everyone in my neighborhood but alas.
With a retail price of 44 bucks, I’m definitely going to get my money’s worth but am not sold on repurchasing it. So basically, this review is not helpful. Just as I warned in the beginning¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For more, visit Sephora.
I am 92% done with the new site: pinkgumbeaux.com. Although I will continue to have a presence on Blogger, it will no longer be my main blog *insert tears here* Till then, you know I need friends so “like” Pink Gumbeaux on Facebook and follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Rabadaba. While you’re at it, check out my last post: The Basic Remix.
