FREE MAKEOVER @ SEPHORA

Source: Sephora (no, this is not me)

OK, so it’s been a while.  I have awesome excuses: I started a new job last Monday and I passed my oral exam (for PhD comprehensives) last Wednesday.  This weekend, I did the minimum.  I was freaking exhausted from trying to balance working long hours and studying.  This is why I specifically saved my “free makeover” card for Saturday (a perk of the VIB status).

I was assigned to a really cool Sephora consultant who first asked me what I wanted out of the makeover and proceeded to give me a Color IQ.  A device is used to determine Color IQ which then assigns a Color IQ number that pinpoints foundation that best matches your skin.

Similar to the consultant that gave me a facial, she told me that I had really good skin and didn’t need concealer.  She applied a liquid foundation, eye shadow from a Naked palette (Naked Smokey), liner, mascara, lips, and a bit of contouring.  I’ll give you specifics on products as we progress through the week.  My brows were already filled but she extended it.  I hate long eyebrows because my face is small.  I felt like I had a headband going around my forehead.  I wasn’t specifically thrilled with the smokey eye either.  I guess I don’t need a lot of makeup but requested she teach me how to do it; although; I will probably never do it -_-

Overall, I was satisfied with the makeover and bought two of the recommended products.  I had a lot of the other items already.  Would I pay for a makeover from them? Probably not but thanks for the offer Sephora.

I am 90% done with the new site: pinkgumbeaux.com. Although I will continue to have a presence on Blogger, it will no longer be my main blog *insert tears here* Till then, you know I need friends so like Pink Gumbeaux on Facebook and follow me on Twitter and Instagram.

I RAN FOR MY LIFE

tumblr_nksockDlRp1sp8304o1_500Last week, I saw an awesome presentation from a runner that really motivated me to take up running again.  Hi T.J.  Any who, running is not new to me but I haven’t been an effective runner since high school.  I have really good excuses, here me out.  First, my neighborhood is super hilly.  Ain’t nobody got time for that.  Secondly, I go…what I have coined…”pig.”  I struggle with the breathing routine that is required for a long distance run; therefore, I end up wheezing after about 3 minutes on the track -_-

My first day on the track, “I ran for my life” and came back to my apartment absolutely drenched!  Later that day, husband and I passed by the park and I asked him the distance of the track.  Turns out, it was only a quarter of a mile *you may laugh hysterically here*  I have continued doing that quarter of a mile and will add more laps as I progress.  The thing I like about running is that it’s FREE and right outside of my apartment.  Plus, I’m sure my Zumba classmates will appreciate this.  I know they got tired of me being the best dancer, ever.

CLASSIC MULTITASKER CONCEALER BRUSH #21

s1606128-main-hero-300

This summer’s heat has been disrespecting my makeup lately.  Interestingly, my concealer hasn’t been there for me either.  Make Up For Ever’s Full Cover Concealer is the best Sephora has to offer so is it overrated or is it me?  Of course, it’s me.  The Beauty Advisor (that’s what they’re called) asked “how do you apply it?”  Me: “With my finger or sponge.” This was the problem, I needed a concealer brush.

The Classic Multitasker Concealer Brush is a universal makeup brush for applying concealer.  This all-purpose concealer brush applies various formulas effortlessly.  The synthetic bristles were created for use with any kind of concealer formula to conceal blemishes and undereye circles.  Also, the Naturon fibers are made from a synthetic PBT and feature waves and pointed tips to emulate natural fibers.  They have been treated with an antibacterial treatment.

Most importantly are the directions, something I rarely follow!  “Focus the ball of the dome shape to the areas desired and blend into skin for a smooth natural finish.”  For me, so far so good.  I wasn’t particularly excited about spending 20 bucks for a brush but I did have a 10% off coupon *shoulder shrug*  For more info and to read reviews, click here!

THE EEPHUS

Wondaland_Presents_-_The_Eephus_EP

I’ve waited so long for this EP.  Due to delays, two singles were released to hold us over: Jidenna’s “Classic Man” and Janelle Monae’s “Yoga.”  Although this album is a compilation of artists signed to Monae’s Wondaland Records, I am such a fan of hers that I downloaded it without listening…  Grrrrr

Unlike my previous reviews, I am not going to break down the music genres because I’m not even sure if one has been identified for this group.  Once downloaded at approximately 7AM on this past Friday, I begin blasting the music.  I should mention that I downloaded the “explicit” version because I’m a badass, duh.  Any who, first up was Deep Cotton’s “Let’s Get Caught.”  Great melody, vulgar but not surprising.  I already had the two singles that were released and am tired of hearing them so I skip to the last few songs.  They are a snorefest and the remix for “Classic Man” was highly unnecessary.  On the other hand, my husband loves Roman GianArthur’s “iKnow.”  Due to his requests to hear it, that song and St. Beauty’s “Going Nowhere” are growing on me.  I guess most of my disappointment stems from hearing better songs (in my opinion) on YouTube than what was released.  Despite that, I am still looking forward to debut albums from all of the new artists and will gladly return this one so I can get credit on my next Wondaland purchase.  Is that possible?  janelle-monae-wondaland-and-epic-records-announce-eephus-compilation-ep

I hope Janelle remains imaginary friends with me after this.  I still love her and am looking forward to more music, that won’t put me to sleep… …  …  Yeah, so… Pink Gumbeaux is under construction.  I am 90% done with the new site: pinkgumbeaux.com. FREE MINI FACIALS @ SEPHORA

unnamed

Yeah, so I saw this sign last week and decided to pop back in and take them up on their offer.  We briefly discussed my skin type (oily like a mutha), skincare products (everythang Murad) and routine.  Because I’ve been using Murad for so long, its time for me to switch up and per the skin specialist, their products may be too harsh.   Also, I had to throw away my face brush.  Apparently, the head is supposed to be changed every two months but I’ve been using it for like two years or more.

The facial lasted about 20 mins and included the use of the following products:

We didn’t use the Luna but she suggested that I replace my face brush with this.  Apparently, it only needs to be changed twice a year and the silicone prevents dirt from building unlike our face brush counterparts.  Even better, she recommended products for my husband: Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser and Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20.

Samples

I already had a substantial amount of points because their samples usually suck but was excited to select  a Limited Edition Bite box (Luminous Creme Lipstick in Bellini, Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Bellini and a button that’s actually a mirror) and  Marc Jacobs in Mod Noir.
