My Weekend Review: Road Trip to Little Rock

I haven’t done a weekend review in ages!  So, this past weekend, the boyfriend and I took a road trip to Little Rock, Arkansas.  Some of you may be thinking, why Little Rock?  Well, it was his 30th birthday weekend and that’s where he choose to go.DISCLAIMER: I do a little ranting so if you want to hear about shopping, skip straight to that area!

Little Rock is approximately 5 hours from Jackson so it’s both close and far enough for a weekend getaway.  However, I have to admit… I don’t hear much about Little Rock and never had the desire to go there, lol.  In my head, I was thinking: “why would we leave one small town to go to another…”  But boy was I wrong!

Our hotel was located in the River Market District so we had access to numerous museums, restaurants and the Arkansas River of course!  We visited the River Market’s Farmers Market, partook in the local cuisine (I gained approximately 33 pounds this weekend, lol), skipped over to the Clinton Museum (where I saw an Oscar de la Renta exhibit), walked the pedestrian bridge over the Big Dam Bridge, visited a local comedy club, and took a ride on streetcar (which crossed the Arkansas River, yikes).  Although this trip was not about me, I got to check out the local shopping scene.

SHOPPING: Hillcrest Neighborhood & Kavanaugh Blvd.

Little Rock has a lot of shopping areas but a fair amount includes your typical retail chains.  The Hillcrest Neighborhood and Kavanaugh Blvd included salons, restaurants and cute boutiques.

E. Leigh’s was the first I noticed.  I’m not sure of the retail prices because the store was about to close (and from retail experience, I know employees hate when someone walks in 15 minutes to close).  If you see something you like, on their page, you can start a shopping account and order via phone.  Visit their Facebook page, here!

Ember is boutique and self proclaimed “shopping haven.”

“Everything about your shopping experience at Ember is intended to be effortless and fun, from our easy to wear styles, to our laid back and friendly service, to our gentle-on-the-budget price points.”

Both apparel and accessories retails between $28 and $78 bucks!  Shop, here!

River Market’s Farmer Market also had a ton of clothing and accessories.  There were two I liked the

most.  One had a lot of handmade jewelry for piercings, toe rings and ear cuffs.  Another is an online boutique that I will post about tomorrow.

I had a great time out there, so much that I have added it to the list of places I want to relocate once I’m done with school.

See you soon Little Rock!
